If you think the description sounds stupid, I recommend you don't click the link, because it'll seem even more so.

Example: The Ferengi are French. Queen Victoria has a steam-powered artificial leg and is still alive after 200 years. Etc.
 
"aether" (too lazy to cut/paste the funky AE combo :p ) is what Victorian-era people thought was in space. Very basically, an interstellar atmosphere kind of like Earth's atmosphere. (The details never really interested me in the first place, so they don't even have the status of "shit I forgot because my memory sucks". :D )
 
I think aether wasnt breathable, but existed more or less as a substance to carry light-wave and make odd propeller-driven space vehicles feasible.
 
If you took Physics class in high school you might've learnt about 'aether'. I belive it's pronounced 'ether'. People thought air was fluid and they called it 'caloric' back then. HA! Can you believe that? lol :P

That is the coolest combination of content I've seen in a while. Star Trek and steampunk--ha! Who'd a thunk it? It makes an interesting read. :)

Ohh. Me likes.
And she can wear some of those crinkleline skirts and a shirtwaist. And maybe go as far as smoke a pipe in her off-hours. Maybe even speak with a nice Irish lilt. :)
The Kilrathi might look like Egyption cats. That would be cool to see. Or they can all look like tigers, and the Space Marines will all look and sound British. They'll speak using arcane phrases like "tally-ho" and "pip-pip". And just about every battlefield they'll fight in will resemble an Indian Jungle. *evil Grin*
"What is this?!" This is a potential fan art idea!!! :D
