Joystick support in privateer with myjemm

Spaceman
Hi everybody,

I just discovered myjemm and thanks to it i was able to finally run my old privateer cd after a decade or so :) . Anyhow, on my computer i do get sound (I think I have sb 16) but I can't calibrate my joystick.

When i follow the instuctions (turn upper right etc,) my joystick is really slow to react when i press the button, and at the end it says invalid calibration. When I just keep it around the center it does calibrate itself (I get past the calibration screen) but it is just fully unplayable (it glides across the screen). I am using sidewinder precision pro.

Is there anything I can do to solve this problem? Any help is greately appriciated.

Thanks,
Edin

It runs great with all my other games so I believe that it must be something else.

Also on my other computer (more modern) I have the same problem. It does calibrate to a certain extent, but it can't recognize bottom right. Because of that I can use my joystick in all directions except right (which renders it useless any way :) )

I do actually have win 98, but unfortunately i couldn't get priv to run without myjemm. I don't know why.

You can run it in real DOS mode, by pressing F8 during your computer startup and selecting option #5.

You gotta do some adjustments to your config.sys and autoexec.bat, though, there is a stuck thread (FAQ: Privateer bootdisk,....) on this forum with all the instructions.

One other thing: which joystick do you have? It might be too technologically advanced for your Tarsus.

Thanks Starkey, I will definitely try that with MS-Dos mode.

heh that is what I belive too. It is sidewinder precision pro, that has throtle for speed and rudders for axis movement.

You´re welcome! See everyone, nothing can defeat my regular 2-button 8 year-old RadioShack joystick. It handles all WC games! :D

I have some bad news for you though, edin, if you can´t control a Tarsus under Windows, that will probably also happen in DOS, unless you have some joystick software or you are able to do some tricks with your SoundBlaster driver - like adding the J200 command to your "setblaster" line in config.sys, but let´s not go there yet, just get the game running in DOS first.

oh yea edin my Microsoft Sidewinder Percision 2 runs just fine with myJEMM on Privateer
oh and i have full sound and speech incase if anyone is intrested :D
