Joystick/Mouse/Keyboard wont work w/ XP & KS

ok i have tried everything...calibrated the joystick, downloaded the superpatch, etc...

i have my usb keyboard, mouse, and joystick, none of which work. ive tried running in compatibility mode, etc - with no luck. when i start wc1 the cursor flies to the top right side of the screen and gets stuck. if i try a ctrl-j the calibration option comes up but i cant get a button to work.

PLEASE HELP!!!
 
What kind of joystick do you have? You should always include that. Does this just happen with WC1? What happens with WC2/3? You can start WC3 with the command line WC3W -DEAD_ZONE=3 to widen the dead zone up. Then make sure you're going into the ALT+O screen (during spaceflight especially!), selecting joystick input, calibrating and saving the changes. It might also help to recalibrate your joystick in the control panel interface with KS running in the background.
 
sorry, its a microsoft sidewinder USB - it happens in both Wc1 and Wc2 - any help would be GREATLY appreciated, im dying to play :)
 
Do you have any other input devices installed? If you have a gamepad or anything unusual, the game could be intercepting that instead.
 
There's not a lot else to try in this situation. It's quite rare for mouse and keyboard to also not function. There could be a separate program running in the background causing a conflict that you might try to disable.
