I just want a chance (WCP)

On disk three of WCP i am assigned a mission to defend the Midway from an enemy attack, however before my ship can scramble to defend, the midway is destroyed. Where did I go wrong?

P.S. Did anyone find a way around the choppy movies when running WCP on WME? Also i would like to recomend the new MS sidewinder force feedback 2 stick. It's perfect for Wingcommanders (even lacking the actual force feedback)
 
IIRC, there's some problem with the savegame. I've never had this problem myself, so I don't know the solution off the top of my head.
 
The solution is to load up Sim Mission 7 (or, I believe, any other sim mission with the Midway in it). You don't have to finish it - just load it up, and exit the mission. This should fix the problem.
