How to sign in without mouse in WC:SO?

Hi, I've got a problem with SO and the latest version of Wine: moving the mouse on the sign-in screen won't move the cursor. I can move the cursor using the tab key, but tab-clicking only works for the two text fields (callsign and registration number); tab-clicking on "Register", "Submit", or "Quit" doesn't do anything. (In order to leave the game I have to use alt+F4.)

So... What key combinations are used to activate the "Submit" and "Quit" buttons? Or are there not any? Should I just downgrade Wine to an earlier version?

(FWIW, I've never seen this bug before in Wine; it may be unique to Mandriva Linux or something.)
 
Update: ugh, the same bug appears in Prophecy, and after the login screen too. Anyone seen this before? How can I fix it?
 
you tried pressing enter or space on the relevant button when you have tabbed the cursor over it?
 
You've probably tried this, but you should try using "Button 1" on a joystick. I'm just guessing this would work. I don't know anything about wine or if it even supports joysticks.
