Hi every one, I'm new here :)

Could someone tell me how to run my old WC1 in today machine, what program I need to slow it down and where to get it.

I heard of the window version of WC1, but couldn't find it anywhere, is it for real?

Define today's machine.
My most suggested route is always to disable the internal and external cache in the BIOS. Then boot up in DOS mode (Windows would need an eternity to load). Then use moslo if still too fast. Program can be found in the file section here.

Yes it is. It is called Kilrathis Saga, has WC1-3 for Windows and costs about $300-$400 on Ebay at this time (yes, that is no typo).

You can also get the KS version of WC1 from an old issue of PC gamer.

Yes, we have no banamas (that IS a typo; an intentional one) :D

And, not just ANY old PC Gamer issue; to be specific, it is on the PCG CD from the 7/00 issue of the mag. Happy hunting!

300 bucks! Ouch  maybe I should wait for the hi-res version of WC1 from HCI, hopefully it's speed'd be slow down too :)

Kilrathi Saga

I am assuming since Origin no longer sells the Kilrathi Saga, and that its out of print, it is perfectly ok to dowload the game off of the web for free, right? I could be wrong though, its just an assumption. At either rate, if you have a fast connection speed, like dsl or above, try downloading a program called eMule. You can also get one called eDonkey, but they're pretty much the same thing, just different names. It takes a while to figure out the program, but once you do, do a global search on the word "Kilrathi" and you'll be suprised to see that matches actually do come back. Since WC1 and 2 have had the music completely redone, I believe the download for cd 1 was a good 500 something megs, and will take a long time no matter what your connection is, since the download rate will pretty much depend on who you're getting it from. Took me 3 days :(
I came here for a completely different reason, I've never been here and may never run across this forum again, so good luck to all interested in this. If you're a hardcore WC fan, I'm sure the download time will be worth it. Oh yeah, the programs..... I don't have them on my computer anymore and can't recall the web site address but its not hard to find at all. Just enter in eMule or eDonkey in a search engine (google.com recommended) and you should be ok. You won't know what I'm talking about right now, but you will once you have the program : the best place to get the "serverlist" is from www.sharereactor.com

Wrong. Things like Abandonware do not exist, they are just a nicer word for Warez, which is not tolerated here.
That said I also wished it would be legal/OSI would declare it legal as the current situation with KS isn't exactly good for the fans (and I did pay for KS)

His "version" is a patch for the expensive Kilrathi Saga windows WC1 unfortunately.
