How do you get Wing Commander IV to work with XP

I used to be able to play WC IV "The Price of Freedom" DVD all the time but ever since i installed XP it just keeps saying something failed every time i try to load it. I can install it. Just not load it.

Have you installed the Windows 95 patch?
Have you tried running in "compatibility mode"?

It should work with the Win95 patch, even without compatibility mode. I do this and it works.
For the DOS version you'll at least have to switch to full screen yourself before starting the game (or else VESA won't work) but even then you won't get sound, because no program in XP has access to the hardware and the NTVDM Sound Blaster emulator for DOS games rarely ever works.
So, you'll need the Win95 patch.
 
Yeh. I got the game to work but now i need to be able to watch the movies. I downloaded the win95 patch but i does one of those quick 1/2 second installations and then doesnt do anything else? I goes real fast but the game isnt any better!
