The oddest thing happened to me today. I've just opened up wingcommander III with my xp rig... and it er... works pretty perfectly so far. I've had no jumps or anything, and this is pure vanilla xp - no dosbox or anything. Pretty weird huh?

Well, that's not why I've posted. Does anyone know how to change settings for wingcommander III? I accidently rushed through the setup process the first time (delighted that the video settings were working), and didn't choose a sound card. And now I can't seem to be able to turn sound or music on. Is there a way to 'uninstall' WC3 or reinstall it, or at least change the setup settings?

In the folder you installed WC3, there should be a file called "SETUP.EXE"(Or was it called "INSTALL.EXE"?). If you run this, it will allow you to change the settings. Here's the bad news:

Video is not usually the problem with DOS games. Sound and peripheral support is. You may not be able to get sound and a joystick working in the default install. If you have any troubles, go look at VDMSound:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/

VDMSound fakes your joystick, VESA modes, and sound card settings so that old DOS games will work. This is a slightly better solution than DOSBox, because DOSBox is currently very SLOW.

Hope this helps!
