HI RES WC Prophecy in Vista

Hey guys,

Was looking forward to playing this but cant, installed everything correctly but when I start up I can see the dolby movie, push ESC to skip a scene and the whole thing crashes. Get to maniac's discussion and the same thing happens again. I tried using the INSTALL program to change to Direct3d but that crashes too. Any ideas? Used all compatibility modes and patches!

Does the game give you any error messages? Did you set the compatability mode on the installer itself?

No error messages mate just a crash, the installed app for the direct3d comes up with some error about the gui crashing, deleted the files tho so couldnt tell u what it was. The installers are all in win 98 compatibility.

Just finished WC5 in normal res mode, was a bit disappointed. Mind you, I was one of the ones who loved Wing Commander for its immersive storyline and this one didn't really draw you in like the predecessors. Bring Chris Roberts back :-(

Does Vista have a 2000 compatibility mode? You could try applying the Win2k patch and then switching to that. The standard suggestions about disabling things like DirectDraw Acceleration, Direct3D acceleration, AGP Texture acceleration, FSAA & anisotropic filtering also apply. It could also be related to sound as well, so you might try disabling sound hardware acceleration.
