Help with AvP2

I'm hoping that someone out there can help me with a problem I'm having with Alien vs Predator 2. Playing as the Marine, I'm in the first mission where you're in the exosuit. There seems to be a large elevator shaft that you have to go down, but I just can't get the elevator to work and I've been going crazy running around in circles looking for a control of some sort. Have I overlooked something incredibly simple or is there a glitch of some sort in my game? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
There's a "system charge" valve behind the elevator. Once you have operated that, simply walk into the elevator and press the keypad on your left.

I just replayed the marine campaign myself and finished it two days ago.
Is this your first time?
 
Thanks. I was looking for something like that but didn't manage to find it. I'll have to try again. Do you have to get out of the suit somehow to operate it?
 
No, you just step as close as you can and press "E".
(wonder how he operates it with those arms. :D)
 
Yeah had the same problem, just adjust your view angle and the push use button. Oh and dont let the aliens to close.
 
i played it recently, had the same problem. saw the button, put pressed "E" into infinity and nothing happend. later i tried it again under a diffirent angle and then it worked.

you can't exit the exoskeleton, you will exit after you fall down some clif (part of the game, so don't worry)
