HELP, please! Corrupt WC1 files ...

Hey, I recently purchased an original boxed WC1, a collectors item, from an ebay vendor and two of the files are corrupt. Since it was on floppies, it was sold as is - without warranty.

The files I need are:

WC.EXE, 298kb, 9/23/1991 from Disc 1 and

SCRAMBLE.VGA, 118kb, 1/17/1993 from Disc 2

Your file sizes may differ *slightly* depending on your version of DOS or Windows and which Microsoft file system you use. Would appreciate the help. I'm restoring the original files and transferring them plus the original floppy labels to new floppy discs.

Slightly? My scramble.vga is 295KB possibly from the KS version. I have both versions installed in the same directory but they both seem to work. :)

You could try looking at the demo and the various patches for the missing files.

Filesizes depend on game version ONLY, not of OS or filesystem. Unfortunately you can get version of game from running game only (press Ctrl-V while in flight / battle) but your EXE file is damaged.

I have several files named WC.EXE and SCRAMBLE.VGA but most of them are from different versions and have dates of creation far away from 1991 (probably because they are copies of installed game, not of install pack). Please give exact sizes of your files so you can select corresponding files easier.
