But seriously I don;t remember the class name but the british carriers from WW2 would kill an essex for 1 reason the british carriers had armored decks allowing for much higher survivial rates against kamakazis and normal bombs

If you want to get technical about it, the flight decks themselves weren't armoured, just the hangers underneath them. There were areas of the decks which didn't have armour plating under them. Also, while they could take hits from above, they did badly against hits below the waterline. There were Brit carriers that sank with a single torpedo hit. The damage control on the American ships was a lot better, allowing them to survive multiple hits.
