Glide card issues

Chernikov

Spaceman
Generic problem, was wondering if anyone has similar experiences:

I try to run any Glide-accelerated game, using either of two Glide cards (Monster3D or Obsidian X-24) and I get scrachy, poppy, generally glitchy sound. The graphics look great except for the occasional missed texture (also would be nice to correct this). These problems do not

Hardware config:

Pentium4-1.3
Creative Labs Live! Value
Diamond Monster 3D -OR- Obsidian X-24
nVidia Geforce2 MX
20Gig disk
DirectX 8.1

All drivers are updated to latest versions, hardware is properly installed, and im having no luck correcting this on my own. Help?

As glide is a graphics API, it's not the cause of your sound problems. It might be your sound card proper; try a system with a different sound card to make sure though.

I know that it isnt a graphics card problem, but it only occurs when attempting to run a Glide-accelerated game, regardless of hardware config.

Could it be that the cards share resources with the sound card? An IRQ for example?

Voodoo 2 cards don't use IRQ. Thats what he has. I'm thinking problem is more likely related to DirectX 8. The last driver release for Voodoo 2 cards was only certify to work with Direct 7.1. There also where not design to work with W2000/XP.
