Gladius

The Gladius is adequate for it's role on Standoff. However, on the simulator it's quite a challenge. The main guns are decent.

Meh, I could live with the Gladius if it had about 50% more afterburner fuel. In the Vision engine, you are basically screwed once your run out of afterburners unless you have turrets.

Gladius...not the best

I personally don't like the Gladius for anything in Standoff. The top speed is slow and you burn through the afterburner fuel like a drunk at a keg party. Secondly, the guns are spaced too far apart for any respectable hit ration on your target. How many times have we all had our shots pass to either side of the target, even after rolling the fighter?
Finally, torpedo runs in it are suicide given the lack of strong shields and/or a rear turret. If you don't spend 9/10 of your time taking out all the escorts first (which is challenging when the Kilrathi capital ship keeps spawning more) before beginning your run you're dead meat.
I am so looking forward to getting a chance to use the Sabres on some anti-shipping missions in Standoff. Thank God I haven't had to fly the Gladius too often since the first episode.
Confed can do better for a all-purpose strike craft.

Well, if people have strong likes and dislikes for the various Standoff craft, I'm happy to hear it - because it means we did our job right :).

The Raptor of Standoff is a mockery to the WC1 Raptor, old thread explaining it or not. Regardless, the mod is great. But there's no sensing in to hating it, it just is what it is. The Epee is actually much better than it should, but that's not a problem.

The Gladius is just right. A weak ship adequate to minor jobs, but out of its league on large battles.

As was said, the Gladius could need an additional fuel tank or two. Too bad that you cannot sacrifice missiles for additional fuel tanks like you can in Starlancer. Besides that the Gladius is IMHO one of the best ships in Standoff. In the hands of a well aiming pilot it has a devastatig firepower.
