Force Feedback in Prophecy?

Triple-B

Rear Admiral
Hi Folks,

after my long journey to get WC secret ops running again.. I plugged my new bought MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 (USB) in.

The joystick works in secret ops and in prophecy, but not the force feedback.

I always thought there was force feedback support in prophecy

is there a patch or some trick?

thanks

I'm pretty sure there was never any force feedback in any of the PC WC games. Despite being abridged, the PSX version of wc4 has some rumble effects, and WC-Arena on the Xbox Live arcade, are the only two that I know of.

I experimented with adding force feedback to prophecy a few years ago. Mainly the tests were successful. If someone can tap into the engine (it would take someone like HCL because you'd need his dll injection method) You could hook into the gun firing code and get at least some basic force feedback effects going like recoil from trigger pulling (if you can differentiate weapon types you could add a lot of weapon effects). if you can get into the collision detection area you could add hit effects as well. Designing the effects is the easiest part. We had an xml editor that you just edit in notepad that let us design different effects.

do you still have that patchfile? why did you "dumped" it? i mean basic force feedback commands are better than none ;)

We didn't patch the game. We only created a test app that creates/activates certain effects. There was never a patch that activated force feedback in prophecy.

Prophecy did not have Force Feedback effects built in, but I seem to remember the old 1998 Sidewinder software had a Prophecy preset config that had some simple effects.
