ESS Maestro 2 & Priv 1 problem

I have an ESS Maestro2 in a micron laptop that I would love to play P1 on. Would one of you kind people who have sound working with the Maestro please post your config & autox for me?

My problem is this - I have a W98 DOS boot disk, with aecu.sys in config.sys and maestro.com in autoexec.bat. Upon booting, maestro.com says "WARNING your bios is controlling your IRQ's, boot windows, then go into DOS mode for DOS games". Well, I am running W2K, not W98 on the laptop, so I don't think I can do what it says.

If I ignore that message, and try to run P1, it says my sound card isn't set up right and to reinstall. I don't know what my sound card is set at, and I don't know how to check from DOS. I've tried just about every combination and no luck. If I install with no sound, P1 seems ok. Any hints? Thanks a bunch!!

config.sys
DEVICE=A:\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=A:\AECU.SYS
DEVICE=A:\EMM386.EXE RAM 16384 I=B000-B7FF
DOS=UMB
DOS=HIGH
FILES=30
BUFFERS=30

autoexec.bat
SET BLASTER=a220 I5 D1 T4
lh A:\MAESTRO.COM

maestro & priv1

I added the NOAUTO, but no help. I still get this message when Maestro.com loads "Please use Windows Software Applet to enable Sound Blaster, MPU401 and Game port for Real/WIndoes DOS". And then when I try to run Priv, it says my sound config is incorrect. I have 3 questions:

1. Is the sound config incorrect because Maestro.com didn't load right or because the .cfg file doesn't match my hardware config?

2. How do I get Maestro.com to load right?

3. How can I tell what IRQ etc. the sound card is using when I am booting from a W98 DOS diskette?

Thanks!
