I tried to run Wing Commander Privateer in DOSBox it works fine but when I go into full screen it just seems to be more pixelated than windowed mode. So I tried to run it in Windows 95 compatibilty mode but I get the infamous message about not supporting EMS, normally in windows 98 I could fix this but as XP doesnt use autoexec.bat or config.sys I have no way of figuring this out. Does anyone know to fix this?

Privateer will not run in Windows on its own at all. You must use something such as MyJemm (Win 95/98 only) or DOSBox. No compatibility mode or config file edits will change this. The game also only outputs one resolution, so nothing will change how pixelated the game looks when running in full screen on your monitor.

Ok, thanks for that. It just seemed more pixelated because it had to be stretched out through DOSBox.

You could play with the scaler= setting in dosbox.conf.

EMS? I had that problem and turning it off made it work fine.

That's not the problem. That works for DOSBox, and he's already done that. It does not work for regular Windows 95, 98 or XP, but that doesn't matter, because getting the game to run outside of DOSBox won't solve his issues.

Thanks for all the help, could anyone elaborate on the scaler option?

Find the scaler= option in your dosbox.conf, read the text above it to find out what you can write there and change it. Have a test flight with each and keep the one you like. Though Dosbox CVS has more options there than 0.65.
