DOS Emulators in Win 2K

I've been looking around for a good DOS emulator since I changed systems and started using Windows 2000. I've been wanting to go back and replay some of my older games( like Sam N Max, Full Throttle and Duke Nukem 3D) and I wanted to take another run at Armada. The problems I have are that my soundcard is some new integrated rig, not Soundblaster, and Some games will either not install or will install but won't run. So I haven't even been able to get anything to work to a point where I can check to see if the sound will even work.
Anyway, I was looking for a good DOS emulator to bypass some of these problems and found a possible candidate called DodGE. I haven't tried it yet but their website, http://www.eliel.com/dodge.html, has alist of games that are known to work, that don't work, and they haven't tried yet. The Wing Commander series hasn't been tested yet, according to the site, except for Privateer which is verified not to work. So maybe if somebody out there has old copies of WC 1 and 2 they outta give it a try.
I'm going to take a shot at Armada to see if it'll work. But I'm still looking for a good setup if anyone has a good lead.

DosBox, on sourceforge.net, can play WC1 and Academy with full sound and speed. The other ones doesn't work. It should work on Win2K, because it works on XP, Linux, BeOS...

Hi fellas.
I have both DosBox and Abandon Loader.
I can't get the freakin' things to work.
I'm trying to run Privateer & Rightious(sp?) Fire on W2k downstairs and XP upstairs. Before we upgraded from 98, I had Privateer working flawlessly with MyJemm. All you had to do was change CONFIG.SYS's line that said "NOEMS" to "RAM" and then run MyJemm.

HOWEVER, in XP/2k, I always get the error message reading that I hadn't enough DOS memory to run the game, even in DosBox and Abandon Loader.

In short, HOW THE FLYING CRAP DO I FIX THIS PROBLEM!! I need it to get memory so it can run!

Righteous Fire to answer your spelling question.

For those of you unaquainted with dosBox's homepage, here it is:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/

Find a copy of Boxer or another front-end. I use Boxer personally.

With dosBox, you need to trun OFF, repeat OFF, EMS. Don't turn it on. That screws it up. Without it on, it runs. Don't ask me why, I don't know, and I'm pretty sure I don't want to know.

Second, check the sound/music emulation settings. Make sure they're the same as the ones in Privateer/Armada. They need not be (and probably aren't) the same as the ones on your system. Also, think about possibly turning sound off to improve performance.

Third, be careful how you set the processor speed availability. Faster isn't necessarily better.

Fourth, ask soemone else for more help, since this is about as much as I know.
