.DAT is no standard format. A dat file from Syndicate won't be in any way similar to a DAT file for any other software. So what you need is some sort of ripper for Syndicate. Look for a Syndicate related site.
Yo, been there done that! Search for XMI files - I'm assuming you're talking about Syndicate Plus. The original Syndicate in any case. XMIs are MIDI clones, I play them using the MIDI plug-in from Winamp. Really nice.
Actually, Syndicate is the only game I've managed to find MIDI files from. Then again, I've never had that many games. I really wish the HMIs (more MIDI clones) could be played from Lemmings Chronicles.
Anyway, there's tonnes of Privateer MIDIs in the music section. Inside the MIDs it says it's been converted from XMI... I think I would prefer the original XMIs, things always get changed in conversions, no matter how small.
