Crash Privateer 2

A really irritating problem.

I can work my way through a couple of missions, taking hours I might add, but the game will then abruptly boot me to the desktop giving me the error message

This is making the game unplayable.

Is there a workaround?

If you save the game and try again, it goes on? how long it takes to crash? What are usually doing in the game when the crash happens? Are you playing on Win or DOS? Do you have the patch?

This happens whether I save and carry on or not. It's usually within about 20 minutes of play, and it always happens during space flight.

I'm playing the game in windows xp, and I have applied the patch.
