Close Combat Series

Frog Blast the Vent Core!
Was wondering if anyone else around here played any of the original series? (CC-CC5) or the Matrix updates? (Cross of Iron, Wacht Am Rhein, The Longest Day)

During my recent move I found my old CC3 The Russian Front disc and started playing again. Then I found the Matrix Games site that lists the updates and purchased Cross of Iron.

CC much like WC has a fairly small and tightly knit community that I encountered at Close Combat Series.net that still plays games fairly often.

I just wanted to see if any wingnuts were interested in playing some games as well.

I've got CC-CC5, although it seems most people play CC5 with mods or TLD with mods. I also have Cross of Iron (basically an update to CC3) which is what I like to play since when they came out all I ever played was CC3.

Yeah, the Close Combat series is still close to my heart. About the only real-time tactics series done right (with a few exceptions) complemented by deep multiplayer campaigning. It's still worth it if one could find a reliable opponent.

I played a Close Combat game for about an hour once. To come to think of it, it was about the same time we played Mech Warriors online, and I just noticed MechWarrior 4 is available for free now/soon.

I'm currently playing 2 grand campaigns. One is in the CC4 re-release Wacht Am Rhein (Battle of the Bulge) running a mod and the other is in the CC5 re-release The Longest Day (D-Day). I have to say, like most games, it's enjoyablity increases 100 fold in multiplayer.

Supposedly Matrix is also working on an updated version of Close Combat 2.

I have CC (A Bridge too far) and CC (Normandy). I like them a lot. If I can locate the disk, I'd like to play them again.

Matrix is holding a "Blitzkrieg" Sale on all Close Combat titles as a special before the release of the latest CC game...Last Stand Arnhem.

It's a great deal on the games. If you liked the originals, you'll love the re-releases.
