choosing a good glide wrapper...

hello, i have a question: i managed to get secret ops back running on a win2k machine (still lookin' sweet, btw ^^), using the high-res patch and zeckensack's glide wrapper. the game runs moderately fine, if not for the fact that the wrapper shows a lot of instability: albeit doing a great job emulation-wise, it crashes rather frequently, so i was wondering what are cic's users' wrappers of choice, see if i can get anything more stable (with all due respect towards zeckensack's work, the visual result itself is close to perfection). thanks in advance for your opinions ^^

I"m using the Zeckensack one without any problems, though on XP.

Regarding your win2k install, do you have Service Pack 4 installed? If so, have you used the command line to enable compatability modes? IF haven't, that might aleviate some of the crashing.

yup, i used that tweak since there appears to be absolutely no alternative to run it under 2k (by the way, i should point out an inaccuracy: it is common belief that the switch to enable it should be "regsvr32 /u %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll", but this is inexact since the /u switch would unregister the dll; instead the correct line is "regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll". just a side note). i'm actually blessed to be flying a panther again, that wasn't even supposed to happen with my current configuration ^^
back on track, right now i'm experimenting with some; dgvoodoo seems like the next best option, but maybe i'm unaware of the existence of more suited ones (usually an emulator like these would run a certain game smoothly because the author worked on it, but i have no idea if anyone hacked away at wcso - that's what i'm hoping to find out ^^)

I believe HCl's Prophecy DVD/VOB patch only supports Zeckensack's wrapper right now, but it sounds like Zeckensack's doesn't support Geforce 7 cards for some reason. I don't really know of any other decent ones.

I still must say that one day, getting the glide effects to work via GL DLL's would be a good thing, if a large undertaking.
