Can't get SM1 or SM2 to work for KS

I've played Kilrathi Saga a million times in the past and never had a problem getting any of the games or add-ons to work, but I guess that was when I was using Windows 98. Recently I tried playing it and got through WC1, WC2, SO1, and SO2, but neither of the Secret Missions work. SM1 I see the intro, then the screen with "Start Secret Missions" pops up for half a second before shutting down and returning to the main menu. With SM2 I don't get anything but a blank screen. Can anyone please help, I'd really like to get these to work again. Thanks.

What OS are you using? Are you using win95/98 compatibility mode? Exactly what you are describing happened to me with win2000. To get it to run, I set the game to win98 compatibility mode but not from the kilrathi saga launcher. You have to find the .exe for the game you want to run (e.g. SM1.exe) and run that with win98 compatibility mode enabled. I believe the same thing should work with winXP as well.

I'm running XP....but the only thing that doesn't make sense is that WC1, WC2, and both Special Ops work just fine. What's even more strange is that once I install and run either SM1 or SM2, not only do they not work, but WC1 starts doing the same thing - playing the intro, showing the "Start Vega Campaign" menu item for a split second, then closing and returning to the desktop. So I suspect it's something else, but hopefully using the 98 compatibility will work so I'll try that. Thanks.
