Brightness Problem in SM1

I hit Alt+B while in SM1 by accident and the brightness went all the way up. There doesn't seem to be anyway to undo this, including an uninstall/reinstall. This is with the Kilrathi Saga version. Has anyone experienced this problem and know how to fix it?

Not me. There are a few undocumented ALT-key combinations which have interesting effects, but I can't recall ALT-B being one of them.

Just off the top of my head, in the DOS versions, ALT-+ and ALT-- adjust frame-rate in WC2, ALT-O generates cockpit damage in WC2, ALT-V toggles video communications in both WC1 and WC2, and ALT-M changes message speeds (although I don't know what effect that has).
 
Actually, V and M alone change video comms/message speeds in WC1.

There's another speed-adjuster in SM2, but I forget what it is.
