Anybody else hates the Sabre?

Well, I didn't like it. And I didn't like the gun configuration on the Bearcat. And the Bearcat had some auto-target thing on the guns (auto-aiming to the ITTS or something) that made it harder to actually hit things. I don't know, I just prefer all the other ships you can fly in those games.
If you roll your ship, you can make up for the crappy gun positions. Also the auto-aiming works just fine for me.

The way I see it it's more like apples and oranges.. What you have to remember is it depends on what you're fighting. If you are in a hevy.. one or two smaller ships are little more then annoying, but 5 or 8 of them and your easy prey. If you have a smaller ship you can fly head to head with the smaller ships, but you also have to have numbers to beat larger fighters. That's why things like Sabers need support fighters, and why support fighters like having sabers around. If you are alone in your fighter, and against the wrong thing... well you have a problem as with the saber mission you are flying.

Just my 2cents.. and that what helped WC be so good.. you couldn't fly everything the same and live, and things had strong as well as weak points... if it didn't then it was average at everything.

Yes, large numbers of light fighters can be a threat to big, slower vessels. For example, when you fly a Broadsword or Crossbow, a Drakhri, Gothri, Strakha, or Jalkethi can stay outside your guns' range and still be able to shoot you with its longer-range lasers or particle cannons.

This is why bombers are escorted by light fighters
