A little Prob with WC : Privateer

Hello,
since I've just found my old Privateer game somewhere on my bookshelf I have tried to install and play it again. Well, now I have a little problem with installing/starting the game and I don't know how to solve it, although I know, I had solved it some years ago, when I just held Privateer in hands for the first time, because then I had to face the same difficulties.

The problem is that, when I try to start, there comes the message "Programm halted by code" (still in Dos) and above there are the dates of my memory, which is really enough for running this game.
Then Windows is restarted and I'm back on my desktop...
 
P1 is a DOS game. It will not work in windows. You will need to make a boot disk to play this game. We can help you make one. Post your c:\autoexec.bat, c:\config.sys and c:\windows\dosstart.bat files. What OS and sound card do you have? P1 is it the CD or floppy version?
