Impressive... most impressive. Now, if I could just regain enough of my old skill (or enough money) to get through the straight Privateer Remake, I'll jump in and start playing in the larger universe.
Side note on Flash - I don't even download the Flash plugin, as for some strange reason, not a single annoying Flash based advertisement works on a machine without Flash installed.
Side notes: There are multiple destroyers per supercarrier.
General note: Arleigh Burke destroyers are essentially cruisers, despite class name, given that a Tico displaces about 9,600 tons, and a Burke displaces about 9,200 tons. Older Spruance destroyers displaced about 8,040 tons...
I'd have to agree on the desire to be able to purchase some of the Kilrathi ships. Essentially, any ship you meet in combat on a semi-regular basis should be available - produced, purchased, stolen, salvaged, gambling trophy, etc.
Purely from the internal consistency/logic standpoing, not all factions - logically - are necessarily geographically based.
Pirates operating out of a base are geographically based, but it's more along trade routes than geographic areas per se.
Militia are clearly geographically based...
Defend Perry from 18 Kilrathi capital ships... well, that one actually makes sense. Now, if they'd launched fighters as well, I can see Perry as a dust cloud.
Hmmm... I don't think I like conqering replacing bases randomly:
Future exploit if players do the conquering, similar to MOO "I'll blow up that small planet, and build a larger planet out of the asteroid belt" technique: Factions trading systems back and forth until it's a worthwhile system...
I assume that we can have some systems fixed in wcu.xml, while the rest are autogen?
Suggestion: Use autogen for now, and we'll see what's good and bad in playtesting. This will give us a quick fix now, and allow for someone with more knowledge of WCU to fill in specific known instances...
Makes sense to me.
Forseeable bug: So, can I tractor it into my hold, and either hold it for ransom ("You'll never see your home system again until you give me the codes for the atmosphere shield!"), or simply create SuperNexusSystem?
Forseeable bug: Transfer of inertia by ramming...
Jump bubbles look very impressive, while jump buoys and/or simply knowing the nav points make a lot more sense.
I'd have to vote for the bubbles, really - if nothing else, blowing up jump buoys could have interesting side effects that you may not want to get into.
Infantry behavior? If it moves, it's a VC, so I shoot it. It if doesn't move, it's a smart VC, so I shoot it.
And then I go to the... ahh... bar, and get some... ahh... drinks. And then the locals make some comments about their Centurion beating my Stiletto... And then someone from my...
SM-2 Block III and IV- Standard Missile-2
The Mark 1 Mod 0 Eyeball is issued to most humans at birth, and is located in the middle of the cranium, pointed forwards.
To sum up in WCU terms:
Rapier Block I would have neutron guns, Rapier Block II would have particle guns.
Would it make sense to have Mod or Block variants (i.e. a modern SM-2 Block III, Block IIIA, or Block IV, or the commonly referenced Mark I Mod 0 Eyeball)
Not my fault you wanted to get in the middle of a Kilrathi main battle group (now, imagine if each and every Kamekh launched fighters!), as opposed to waiting for the Confed to show up en masse!
More seriously, perhaps limiting the number of capships in a flight group to some math based off...
Penta2 - Agreed, that's why it's part of the "pie in the sky" thread!
In general, I'm approaching my "pie in the sky" wishlist with the view of what could an exceptional character - the main character of a story - do? Alternatively, what could their successor do? Additionally, I take the...
G) Hmmm... as much more convoluted idea... some way to gain either a real rank or an "acting" rank in one or another faction, such that you can command units of that faction as wingmen (alt: Missions offers wingmen of that faction for reduced price/free/higher availability/higher firepower)...
An excellent idea for a custom or semi-custom ship.
What about purchasing older model stripped down hulls (i.e. just like a Drayman comes stock with nothing - not even a jump drive), and then buying capital scale parts (presumably a few here, a few there, all over the place)?
Freeing...
If it would help, I can create some planets with Mojoworld for various systems configurations, and perhaps find one or another interesting bit of terrain to render.
Quicktime movies can also be created (landing approach), though I don't know if they'd be of any use (and render time...
