Range Early Soviet fighters were pretty poor range wise - eg, the MiG-21 but the Flanker has a very respectable range - it can carry "overload" fuel for take off. It's an extremely good a/c all round. I would expect the same sort of quality to be in the MiG-35.

    Spreading your resources awfully thin...

Frog Fighters Actually the French fighter is the Rafale, basically the ultimate evolution of the Mirage series, comparable to the Eurofighter or Saab Gripen. The Eurofighter is more agile, having the canards further forward, amongst other things. Head on, it is nearly as stealthy as an F-22...

And really the Su-37, which has thrust vectoring, excellent performance and greater all-round agility really would be a threat. Where the Russians used to be let-down was in the BVR shots with primitive radars (ie, the German MiG-29s were only getting a 50-50 kill ratio against the Tornado F3...

$30-40 million a pop? not for the F-22. More like $100-120 million each. And as with all such aircraft, that will only go up with the later block-number productions, I expect.

    Spreading your resources awfully thin...

F-15E The Mud Hen is a dedicated strike A/C, not an air superiority fighter at all, even if it is the bastard offspring of an fighter plane. That huge wing on the flying tennis court makes for one damned bumpy ride, low level and trans sonic. F-15Cs aren't capable of ground attack and the...

Stealth Features The angles of the surfaces of the YF-23 are all the same, a design for pure stealth. The intakes are better hidden. The vertical surfaces of the tail are at a shallower angle, better for stealth. The curved surfaces, like the shapes of the B-2, are all designed primarilly for...

    Spreading your resources awfully thin...

F-22 agility Assuming the figures published in the EF2000/F-22 TAW guides for turn rates are correct, the F-22 isn't actually all that good without the thrust vectoring. Not that you should be looking for a knife fight in a phone booth if you can kill the guy from 30 miles away with a BVR...

    Spreading your resources awfully thin...

F-22 v F-23 Actually the YF-23 was almost certainly more stealthy, but that came at the price of agility. Size, weight and cost were also probably factors in the decision. Northrop also has a habit of losing out on these contracts...

    Where are the arrow fans?

Die Hard Arrow Fan Even a die hard arrow fan like me knows the value of torpedoes. You can tackle capships with an Arrow, but it's a headache.

What do you like to say when you make a KilI?

"Stitch that, motherf*cker" "Get down, Shep!" "Splat."

    Where are the arrow fans?

I loved the Arrow The only missions in WC3 I didn't tackle with the Arrow were the ones where you needed torpedoes, and the ones where we had the Excal available. I hated that damn Hellcat, it was a worthless piece of junk. And it was ugly. Ugly fighters are bad fighters.

What do you want in the HTL Finale?

Yes, well I haven't read that much of the oldtimers stuff, so it never really bothered me. I just sort of write round it.

What do you want in the HTL Finale?

Blair Blair doesn't get gobbled by the bugs in the Aces chronology - way pefore WC:P came out he was ... dealt with, for reasons of creativity etc. The Aces universe is sort of an alternate reality in that respect.

    New HTL Archive site

Text Can I just ask, Rap, why it is you've taken to using a larger point size for the text on the new archive site and several of your mailings of chapters lately? Personally, I find the larger print a lot harder to read than small text. Had your eyes tested lately mate?
