SEETHER: ...we came from a life of hiding, many of us sought after some... ...murdered at the hands of savages. But one forward-thinking man -- a genius, our benefactor, an equal -- found us, nurtured us, and has given us the tools to fulfill our birthright as the natural rulers of the universe! Our operations in the Telemon system were a rousing success. I congratulate all who were involved. And, before we close, I give you our esteemed leader...
ADMIRAL TOLWYN: I am here, my fellow soldiers, to commend you on your valiant efforts. You -- the Black Lance -- will be humanity's first line of defense. Now, various enemies of the Confederation have already met with you: they know very well what you are capable of. Soon now, I will be able to reveal your existence to all the Confederation, and you will get the praise which you so richly deserve. I also wish to extol the efforts of your great commander; a fine example of what the Genetic Enhancement Program promises for the future. 'The strong shall survive:' the primary universal law. The species that is weak, faces extinction. You know, not so very long ago our species faced extinction. Now the truth is -- our victory over the Kilrathi was not a clear verdict of our superiority. It was a fluke, a temporary purchase of time. We will, someday, face an enemy far worse than the Kilrathi, and it is our duty to prepare: to remain strong and to remain vigilant. Even if that means... discarding certain elements, for separating the wheat from the chaffe. Now in the Gen-Select Device, we have a tool to do the job. We have tested it, and we shall use it! As you all know, the Border Worlds are an enemy birthing in our midst. They threaten our unity, our strength, our... humanity. We all have a duty. My own is now with the Great Assembly, where I shall ratify the foundation that we have lain. When the moment comes, my fellow soldiers, you must fight, and fight hard. Thank you.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Didn't I rescue you, on Tyr VII?
DOCTOR BRODY: Rescued only to become a prisoner. And now, they're forcing me to create... I know who you are. If they find you, they'll kill you.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: I've got a fighter waiting -- if we can get to it.

Shooting Script
A Wing Commander IV shooting script has been digitized from the collection of the University of Texas at Austin. A digital version (extracted below) was posted to Origin's Wing Commander IV website in 1996.
midgame: black lance flight line -m3 Blair leaves his fighter and moves stealthily across the deck.
Outside, beyond the end of the deck, he can see --
The awesome TCSÿVESUVIUS docking with the starbase.
for a moment, he stares in disbelief, recognizing this ship from his visit with tolwyn at confed hq... BUT IT WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION THEN...
blair has little time to savor his astonishment, however: from the passageway, he hears the approach of black lancers. still in his flight suit, he knows he's a dead duck if he's caught wearing it...
quickly he takes refuge in a cluttered section of the flight line, filled with pallets.
blair scuttles back into the shadows ... begins stripping off the flight suit...
about to stash it, he realizes these aren't just any pallets...
they contain racks of the bioweapon canisters, just like the broken ones seen on telamon ft957... but these are unbroken... awaiting use...
nearby, blair spies stacks of those mysterious convex-shaped disks...
the sounds outside retreat... the coast is clear... blair, now in his black lance uniform, exits the flight line...
midgame: starbase passageway 297A-m3ÿÿ there's a great deal of movement in one direction, and blair decides the best approach is to act like one more black lancer. he falls into step and enters...midgame: black lance briefing hall -m3 the hall is packed with black lance pilots... blair slips into the back...
up at the podium, seether appears triumphant...
seether And before we close, I give to you our valiant leader...
a beat, then seether looks to the wings as TOLWYN emerges from the shadows...
blair reacts...
tolwyn warmly greets seether then looks out at the pilots assembled in front of him.
tolwyn I am here, my fellow soldiers, to commend you on your valiant efforts... You -- the Black Lance -- will be humanity's first line of defense. (beat) Various enemies of the Confederation have already met you ... and tasted your wrath. Soon, I'll reveal your existence to the entire galaxy and you will get the praise that you deserve.
The black lancers cheer.
tolwyn puts a hand on Seether's shoulder, and there seems to be special affection there.
tolwyn I also wish to extol the efforts of your commander, a fine example of what the Genetic Enhancement Program promises for the future.
Another cheer from the crowd. tolwyn turns his attention back to the assembled pilots.

tolwyn acknowledges the cheers, claps seether on the back one more time, and quickly exits.
seether steps to the podium, preparing to speak, waiting for the cheers to stop. but he looks towards the back and spots Blair. that cold rage comes to Seether's eyes as he signals to several guards --
Blair dashes out and we -- ÿÿ
cut to:ÿÿ
midgame: starbase passageway 316A-m3ÿÿ blair makes his run down the passageway. clinging to the walls, he thinks he might have it home free when a hand grabs his shoulder and spins him around.
his sidearm ready, blair's about to pull the trigger when he realizes...
this is Dr. brody, the bioconvergence chemist he helped rescue on tyr VII, back when he was with the confederation...
she bears bruises, looks exhausted.
blair (stunned) I rescued you. On Tyr VII.
brody (grim) Rescued to become a prisoner... And now they're forcing me to create ... something evil. (beat) I know who you are. They'll kill you.
blair I've got a fighter waiting -- if we can get there --
brody Come with me. I know a way.
they move off, just ahead of black lance guards...
CUT TO:ŸŸ midgame: flight line -M3 now both in flight suits, blair and brody crouch down behind pallets as guards search the flight line.
brody puts a data chip in blair's hand.
brody Somebody should see this. The rest of the galaxy has to know...
the guards leave. blair nods to brody.
blair Now!
together they sprint across the flight line towards blair's black lance fighter.
but more guards appear and begin firing. Blair and brody haul ass across the flight deck, blair laying down a barrage of fire from his sidearm, cutting down the guards...
but just as they get to the ship brody sags. she's taken a mortal hit. blair looks at her --
brody Go.
she's dead. blair's going to be any second now, unless he MOVES. he scrambles into his fighter and hits the enginesÿ--
