The TCS Iowa was a heavy cruiser that was among several cruisers and destroyers destroyed when the Kilrathi attacked Pegasus Station in 2654. The Iowa was caught off guard when the Kilrathi circumvented the station's patrols and launched a sneak-attack on Pegasus. In the confusion the Iowa managed to scramble and launch six F44-A Rapier medium fighters but it was to no avail as the fighters were destroyed as soon as they could be launched.
