The TCS Mount St. Helens was the second Vesuvius-Class Heavy Carrier to be commissioned by the Terran Confederation.

Construction

The TCS Mount St. Helens was a massive heavy carrier and the sister ship of the TCS Vesuvius. Like its sister ship, it was designed as a heavily-advanced, self-sufficient carrier that could hold its own ground without the need for escorts on the frontlines. It was one of the largest vessels in the Confederation Space Navy at the time of its construction. It was constructed at the shipyards of the Orion Station orbiting Mars in the Sol System, where Admiral Geoffrey Tolwyn oversaw its progress alongside the Vesuvius.

Border Worlds Conflict

By 2673, the TCS Mount St. Helens was approaching its final stages of construction. Its sister ship the Vesuvius was the first to be commissioned and was immediately pressed into active service, although in reality, in had become the flagship of Tolwyn's secretive Black Lance fleet, which was instigating the ongoing Border Worlds Conflict. The Mount St. Helens remained in drydock as it finished construction.

During the final days of the conflict, Captain William Eisen, who had defected to the Union of Border Worlds, received word that Colonel Christopher Blair on the BWS Intrepid was pursuing Tolwyn and the Vesuvius in order to stop him from securing a war declaration on Earth. Eisen and his allies within Confed hijacked the Mount St. Helens from Orion Station in order to assist the Intrepid. Unfortunately, many of the weapons systems on the Mount St. Helens and her shields were not fully installed, greatly weakening her battlefield prowess. Eisen recognized this problem, but pressed onward with the rescue.

Just as the Vesuvius was about to destroy the Intrepid in the Talos System, the TCS Mount St. Helens jumped into the system and attacked the Vesuvius head on, allowing Blair and his allies to escape to the jump point. Eisen and Blair pursued the Vesuvius to Sol, and by this point had badly damaged Tolwyn's flagship. Unfortunately, the Mount St. Helens was forced to retreat as it had sustained critical damage, leaving Blair to pursue Tolwyn alone. Despite this setback, the actions of the Mount St. Helens proved instrumental in the eventual destruction of the Vesuvius and the ultimate prevention of war thanks to Colonel Blair.

Terran Service

The TCS Mount St. Helens was eventually returned to the Terran Confederation after the Border Worlds Conflict was resolved, where it was repaired, completed, and finally commissioned. The Mount St. Helens would not see any major fleet actions until 2681, when the Nephilim War broke out along the frontier. It served humanity proudly up until its destruction by the Nephilim after the second wormhole was discovered.
