Hilo Base is a star system in the Trk'Pahn Sector. It is a territory of the Terran Confederation.
Hilo Base is a remote territory on the outermost fringes of the Confederation. Its main planet Hilo Base is an undeveloped and hostile world dominated by a desert landscape dotted with small seas. Hosting only a thin atmosphere, it was necessary for Terran visitors to wear special suits in the lifeless terrain. The minimal human population instead resided in large domes dotting the landscape, all of them much more luxurious and welcoming than the world outside.
The TCS Johnny Greene was ordered to divert to Hilo Base in 2667 on the orders of Admiral Wayne Banbridge after they were refused services at Xanadu. Upon arriving at Hilo Base, the crew of the Johnny Greene learned that they were to perform reconnaissance on the Kilrathi world of Vukar Tag.
