The Ralatha-Class Destroyer is a warship in the service of the Kilrathi Empire that saw much action during the Terran-Kilrathi War.

Overview

The Ralatha is a heavily-armed capital ship built to fill the role of a traditional destroyer. Its main purposes include the escort and defense of larger capital ships in the Kilrathi armada and assaults on on ships and stations operated by the Terran Confederation. It is well-defended and sports 23 starfighters, making it a lethal foe.

History

The Ralatha took part in numerous campaigns during the Terran-Kilrathi War, and was very active in the Enigma Sector during the eleven-year campaign to conquer the sector. By the time of its introduction, it was seen as one of the more modern additions to the Kilrathi fleet, and began to assume the role once filled by its spiritual predecessor, the very venerable Ralari. Ralathas took part in numerous offensives against Terran bases and fleets, and were also heavily involved in putting down the separatist movements on frontier planets like Ghorah Khar. However, the separatists also managed to take possession of some of these warships, the most famous example being the KIS Shar N'Tanya.

Ralathas were active up to the end of the Terran-Kilrathi War in 2669, but by that point in time were superseded by newer and stronger destroyer classes.
