Palan is a star system in the Fariss Quadrant of the Gemini Sector featuring Basra, a refinery base, and Palan, an agricultural planet.
In 2669, the Bronte Corporation, a major exporter of food products in the Gemini Sector, arranged for a blockade of the planet Palan to prevent the rival Rondell Corporation from exporting its products. Rondell's agent Lynn Murphy hired privateers who were eventually able to eliminate the blockade. Among these privateers was Grayson Burrows, who had come to the Palan system in search of Dr. Lemuel Monkhouse, who himself had become trapped on Palan by the blockade.
