Custer's Carnival - 2649

Custer's Carnival was a 2649 battle between the Terran Confederation and the Empire of Kilrah. The Confederation attempted an amphibious assault against a fortified Kilrathi colony. The attack was repelled by unexpected fighter support, forcing the human transports to reform and retreat while pursued by enemy warships. The TCS Tiger's Claw is detatched from its previous duty station to cover the path of the retreating force. In a hard-fought delaying action the carrier occupied enemy fighters long enough for the transports to escape. The Tiger's Claw suffered heavy damage, with three quarters of her engines destroyed and half her pilots listed as casualties. Her crewmen were awarded two Gold Stars and numerous other medals and she spent the next six months in spacedock.
