Kilrah (star system)

Kilrah is a star system in Kilrah Sector comprised of six planets, multiple asteroid belts and the remains of the planet Kilrah, the destroyed homeworld of the Kilrathi. As such, Kilrah was the throne world of the Kilrathi Empire until it's collapse in 2669 at the conclusion of the Terran-Kilrathi War.

Kilrah

Kilrah was the most populous planet in the Kilrah System, and was the homeworld of the cat-like Kilrathi, who originated on this planet thousands of years ago. Throughout the following centuries, the many clans of the Kilrathi eventually rose to power, but became diverse and separated due to their different ideologies and cultures. Being a predatory race, the Kilrathi culture was characterized by hunting, the aggressive pursuit of the enemy, and a desire to dominate inferior races, so the Kilrathi civilization eventually evolved into the tyrannical and violent Kilrathi Empire of the modern era, with its various clans continually vying for power behind the scenes. The Kilrathi eventually discovered jump technology and soon established a large series of colonies across the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. As the Kilrathi continued to spread their influence, Kilrah became the political and military capital of the Kilrathi Empire, hosting thousands of starships, dozens of space stations and production plants, and housing billions of soldiers.

Geology

Kilrah was a massive volcanic world covered in seas of lava and volcanoes, rendering much of the planet uninhabitable. There were massive cities scattered all across the planet, most notably the Capital City. It was home to the Imperial Palace, and like most Kilrathi structures, all of the buildings were asymmetrical in design. These cities were often isolated due to the hazardous terrain.

Kilrah was plagued by constant earthquakes for millenia prior to the Kilrathi War. This is because the planet's multiple layers were made up of hundreds of geological plates that underwent constant shifting and shuffling, destabilizing the planet's crust. It was theorized that it was this activity that contributed to the Kilrathi's aggression and their desire to conquer space during the final year of the Kilrathi War.

Kilrah is also home to two small moons named Igrathi and Largkza. Both moons serve as construction centers for the Kilrathi's massive space fleet.
