Hacker was the leader of a Border Worlds squadron during the Border Worlds Crisis of 2673. He flew a Banshee II Light Fighter alongside Bob-O-Matte and Moose on a routine patrol in the Peleus System.
During this patrol, a pair of Confed F-105 Excalibur Heavy Fighters assaulted the squadron. These starfighters were flown by Black Lance pilots. Bob-O-Matte was immediately shot down, so Hacker and Moose broke off to prepare for an attack.
