|            HOW TO FLY KILRATHI SHIPS IN WING COMMANDER ACADEMY            |
|                    (PLEASE back-up your files first)                      |
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
This subject was vaguely covered on my info files, but here's a step-by-step
on how to do this in Academy.
-> Tools needed: DEBUG (comes with DOS and Windows 95)
                  My WC2/Acad ship editor.
-> Optional Tools: Windows Calculator in Hexadecimal mode (all numbers are
                    in hexadecimal).
-> Files Needed: WCASHIPS.ZIP (unpacked ship files)
-> Info Needed: XSHIP.V05 is the Sartha file
                  XSHIP.V06 is the Drakhri file
                  XSHIP.V07 is the Jalkehi file
                  XSHIP.V08 is the Grikath file
                  XSHIP.V09 is the Strakha file
All the COPY operations happen in the GAMEDAT directory.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMHO, the best way to show how to do something, is with an example:
  Objective: Fly the Drakhri.
1 - Make a backup copy of the Drakhri file (COPY XSHIP.V06 XSHIP.B06)
2 - Load my editor. Edit the Drakhri. Change the ship number to 99. Save.
3 - Rename the modified Drakhri file to 99 (REN XSHIP.V06 XSHIP.V99) (and
any other modifications you may want to make your Drakhri stronger
than the enemy Drakhri) and restore the original Drakhri file
      (COPY XSHIP.B06 XSHIP.V06).
  4 - Lets fly with the Sabre's cockpit (COPY PCSHIP.V04 PCSHIP.V99)
5 - Almost everything's set. Now you must change your ship selection: go to
the MISSIONS directory, and edit a mission with DEBUG (the 1st mission
      for example):  DEBUG MISSION.001
Type "d" and press ENTER. You should see something like this:
1769:0100  44 41 20 4D 49 53 53 49-4F 4E 00 54 00 FF FF 03  DA MISSION.T....

      Then type, "e 10f 63", ENTER, "w", ENTER, "q", ENTER.
6 - Load the game, and the 1st mission. You should now fly the Drakhri with
no problem at all (well, maybe one or two: this is NOT garanteed to
work with that Gauntlet, but hey, nothing's perfect, right? :)  )
