In 2668, a task force led by the ''[[TCS Tarawa]]'' raided Kilrah in an attempt to strip the Kilrathi of their military prowess. Although the Terrans suffered dearly for the attack, the severe damage they managed to inflict on the Kilrathi homeworld proved a major political defeat for the Kilrathi.

However, by 2669, the Kilrathi were on the brink of total victory against the Terrans. Desperate to save Earth, the Terrans launched two major efforts to conquer Kilrah. The first was a strike by the ''[[TCS Behemoth]]'', which was intended to destroy Kilrah prior to its untimely destruction as it was setting out on the mission. The second was the [[Lancelot Flight]], during which Colonel [[Christopher Blair]] launched the [[Temblor Bomb]] on Kilrah and destroyed the planet, effectively ending the war in a Terran victory. After Kilrah's destruction, the Kilrah System's strategic importance and population was greatly reduced, and the survivors were forced to relocate to other star systems. The Kilrah System became home to the planet's remnants which formed a massive asteroid field by 2681, a testament to the Kilrathi Empire's former glory.

The TCS Chinook was used by Lancelot Flight to rearm after arriving in-system on 2669.267. The second was discovered and destroyed by the KIS Kheerakh the same day.

Its existence was unknown to the Terran Confederation until its remains were discovered by Major Washington later that day.

Kilrah is a K6-type main sequence star located in the Kur'u'khag Quadrant of the Kilrah Sector. Kilrah's planetary system consists of seven planets, two asteroid belts, seven identified jump points and a network of mini-jumps. The system has a diameter of 236.6 AU. It is the home system of the Kilrathi, who inhabited the planet Kilrah from which they presided over the Kilrathi Empire before the planet's destruction in 2669.
