Transcript
COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: It's called the Vesuvius. Its maneuverability and acceleration make us look like we're standing still.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Right. I saw it when it was under construction, but I just had no idea they could get it online this fast.
COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: It's set on the standard jump point route to the Sol System. A ship that large has no other option.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: But a ship our size has other options. Look, we can take a shortcut through the Ella star system and squeeze through this smaller jump point which Tolwyn is never going to expect--
COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: because right in the middle of the system is a Confed Superbase.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: Exactly. Of course invading their airspace will attract attention.
COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: And then some. Ella is densely populated.
COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: So we launch a preemptive strike. Pliers told me about that disk.
COLONEL CHRISTOPHER BLAIR: The Flash-Pak?
COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: Thousands of civilians would be killed if you used that! The Superbase isn't isolated from the rest of the system.
COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: We have a chance to stop the war, to save millions of lives. We have to catch Tolwyn and stop him!
COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: Agreed, but hitting them first? I say we make the Superbase come after us.
COLONEL JACOB "HAWK" MANLEY: Do you have any idea what kind of force they can throw at us?
COLONEL TAMARA "PANTHER" FARNSWORTH: Look, it's gonna be tough getting through, sure, but using the Flash-Pak, deliberately causing civilian casualties? That is morally wrong!

Script
Shooting Script
A Wing Commander IV shooting script has been digitized from the collection of the University of Texas at Austin. A digital version (extracted below) was posted to Origin's Wing Commander IV website in 1996.
c.i.c. - panther, hawk -n1 Blair finds Panther and Hawk studying a graphic of the VESUVIUS on a screen.
hawk It's called the Vesuvius, and its maneuverability and acceleration make us look like we're standing still.
blair I saw it under construction. I never thought they could online it this fast.
panther It's set on the standard jump point route to the Sol System.
their eyes move to another monitor displaying a map with VESUVIUS's projected path to earth. it's a somewhat circuitous route.
Panther (v.o.) A ship that large has no other choice.
Blair's eyes light up with an idea.
Blair But a ship our size has other options...
using a light pen on the map, Blair draws a much straighter line from the INTREPID's current position to the sol jump point.
Blair We can take the shortcut through the Ella star system and squeeze through this smaller jump point--
hawk --which Tolwyn is never going to expect--
panther --because right in the middle of the system is a Confed superbase.
blair (beat) Our invasion of their airspace is going to attract attention.
panther And then some. Ella is densely populated.
hawk So we launch a preemptive strike. (beat) Pliers told us about that disk...
Blair (nods) The Flash-Pak.
panther Thousands of civilians will die if we use that. The superbase isn't isolated from the rest of the system.
hawk We have a chance to stop the war here. To save millions of lives. We've gotta catch Tolwyn and stop him.
panther Agreed, but hitting them first? I say we make the superbase come after us.
Hawk Do you have any idea what kind of force they can throw at us?
Panther It's going to be tough to get through -- but using the Flash-Pak -- deliberately causing civilian casualties -- is morally wrong.
they both suddenly realize that Blair hasn't spoken for a few moments. they turn to see him staring silently out the port to the stars...
Panther Colonel?...
he doesn't look at them when he speaks.
