Locanda was a civilian star system in the Epsilon Sector. It was a territory of the Terran Confederation. It is the home system of Lieutenant Robin Peters.
The Locanda System was a major civilian center of the Terran Confederation. It hosted at least four planets, the most populous being Locanda IV. It was a welcoming system with a wealth of natural resources. Locanda IV was known for its series of moons.
Locanda was invaded by the Kilrathi early in the Terran-Kilrathi War, and has since then been a scene of some of the worst battles of the war. The Terrans desperately tried to liberate the system many times, but the system essentially belonged to the Kilrathi. They deployed groups of raiders to harass the civilian population and to keep them in line while the Kilrathi stripped the system of its resources.
By 2669, the system's resources were depleted, and the system had outlived its usefulness to the Kilrathi. It was decided that the surviving population would be exterminated. The Kilrathi launched Operation: Unseen Death, which would employ biological weapons to eradicate the Locandans. Despite a desperate counterattack from the TCS Victory, Locanda IV was infected with a virus with a half-life of 500 years, and the population slowly died out. The infection spread to the rest of the planets and the system was abandoned. It was quarantined afterwards.
The loss of Locanda led to the fall of several systems, including the strategically-vital Blackmane System.
