Placed at strategic points, these relays act as amplifiers to burst signals sent from ships. The amount of power needed to directly transmit across sectors is so large that nothing but the largest capital ships and installations are capable of sending a message unaided. Communication relays act as nodes within the communication network, amplifying and routing communication signals to their destination.
