newbie on a personal mission/showing off my new toys :P

hi all, i'm new here, but i've been a WC fan for a long time now, while mostly from privateer i've dabbled in the other games, anyway one of my other hobbies is sculpting wargames miniatures, when the two are mixed you get...

that's just the first 3 ships, i have a gladius, stiletto and demon done, and in the molds. and i have all 4 confed ships from the original WC in progress, with intent to make all the fighter sized ships over time

they are cast in metal by hand so, if you'd like a few i'm going to be selling them in small numbers in the near future, sorry for the blatant advertisment

mostly with "green stuff" and millput, both are two-part epoxy putties used in miniature sculpting, over a basic plastic card frame

this is a w.i.p. of the tarsus

and a couple of links with some info you may like, if you're interested in sculpting

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milliput

http://uk.games-workshop.com/convers...green-stuff/1/

i'll post some more in progress pictures when i find my SD card

oh, and thanks for all the comments guys

sales test: ebay

i've just listed the ships on ebay for a small sales test

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=330276142785

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=330276143070

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=330276143294

there's only 20 of each ship listed, but like i said, this is just to see how well they will sell, i can always make more

edit: i've been told the ebay links may not work, but you'll find all 3 ships here: http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/banlebanpon

p.s. sorry for the double post, can't edit the first post for some reson

Hey what scale are these at? I have a a Ranger model (TCS Victory) at about 4 3/4 inches long. If you want I could mail it to you to make a mold (figure it would be easier than making it from scratch.) While I'm at it, I could try to get the 3d printer cranking out a few capships for you and we get a fleet started. All I would need would be the model files and a way to convert them to whatever format that printer uses.

they don't really have a scale, i just make them to be around an inch long

but i've worked out the scale of the drathi which is around 1/900th

your ranger class would be in the area of 1/6000th

so me thinks they would look a bit wierd together, and cap ships at such scales would be rather large to cast

it looks great though

True... I could change the scale to fit your fighters, and build it in sections i.e. Front, Tower, and rear. That it'd be easier to mold (and paint.)
The pieces are slowly coming together for my master plan of tabletop Wing Commander gaming.

Far be it from me to make any suggestions here, but if you are going to go to the trouble to produce nice representations of these great ships, wouldn't it make sense to endeavor to keep them all in some scale?

Don't get me wrong - they certainly look good. Maybe it's just a dumb pet peeve of mine...

i think cap ships at the sorta scale is too big to be usable for wargaming, but i have been considering doing a few fleet scale sized ships for full thrust players and such
maybe 3 or 4 cap ships each for confed and kilrathi and some smaller fighters(maybe 2, 3 for each faction)

well if there was a lenth for every ship i could do that, but as there is not (at least that i've ever seen, please correct me if i'm wrong) i can't really do that, cos a few would just be guesses

that being said, most fighters will be in some form of scale ie: heavy fighters will be bigger than light fighters and so on

Actually the CIC has a very good list of shipclasses and other info. Also, have to seen TacOps? It's a hex based game, but with your models it could easily become a traditional tabletop game.
