Wing Commander Prophecy: Secret Ops Model Update Pack

Yeah I just found the issue. Thanks for all the bug reports. I've corrected the mesh issues, added the moray texture back in the common directory, and fixed the SWACS issue. Hopefully a new install file will be available in the next few days.

I also noticed something weird with AST_H_01.IFF when I opened it up with a hex editor.

The SPHR chunk should be 16 bytes long, but it is only 13 bytes long for some reason, and has "SPHR" at the end.

I updated the package with corrected VDU images for all the ships, fixing that pesky "white line" border bug at last. I've also redrawn completely the missile lock crosshairs in high-res. You can get the lastest package here.

EDIT: I noticed Paint messed up the palette, reducing the color depth. Re-done the textures again.

Wing Commander Prophecy: twenty years old this year, and still improving :). Like a good wine, really, except that it improves by not being left alone in a cellar.
Next step, integrating Star Citizen ships... after improving their quality, of course. :)

I have a simple question: are you a PeliCAN or a PeliCAN'T?

Don't disappoint Danny...no sir.

So here it is! The new and improved C-9 Pelican! Despite looking THIS GOOD, it'll still die horribly at the hands of the Nephilim invaders, the Kilrathi, Pirates, or Randy Quaid in a crop-duster.

Can you spot all the Easter eggs? It'll give you something to do on those long escort missions.

Do we have a date of introduction for the Pelican transports? I know we start seeing them only from Prophecy onwards, but would it be a particularly egregious anachronism to see some of them around WC IV?

... maybe for the Strategic Readiness Agency/Black Lance acquiring the first models.

There isn't any such info about the Pelican, I think. In terms of anachronism, I don't think it would be a particularly terrible anachronism... while we certainly only saw the ship in WCP, it could potentially have existed around the time of WC4. There isn't anything new about it, I would say. The ship's basic structure is very typical of WC3/4 transports, with multiple cargo containers attached to a basic structure. So, all in all, you could definitely at least introduce it as a new ship in the WC4 era.

This could be a good way to distinguish the BL faction from the others.

@DefianceIndustries: is your model modular with regards to the containers? If it is, I guess I could recycle some of the transport containers from WC Saga and get fuel tanks for the refinery version.

holy crap!

im loving it!

I don't remember, but is there two different models for the Pelican in WCP/SO ? I was wondering if there was a different skin for the military and civilian variants ?

The model does have modular cargo containers as they are destructible. I'm actually working on a tanker variant (not really for anything other than @Quarto wanted a Dilican), actually I've always considered doing a tanker version.

In response to your earlier post, the Black Lance had the Evansville transport so they likely wouldn't need something so obvious as the Pelican.

There isn't - SO re-used the Pelican as is. Prophecy's use of it talks about how Confed rerouted freighters to the Midway's position, but they were supposed to be civilian freighters. That said, there isn't any reason NOT to make a Confed skin (other than time) But it doesn't have a canon home in the current set of games IIRC.

But isn't this a light carrier rather than a transport?

Negative. It's listed as "Black Lance Transport" in the meshes as well as the local material. The carrier was unnamed beyond "Black Lance Carrier" (and not used IIRC) but you did run across an Evansville I believe.
