Is there any patch for Wing Commander III?

Is there any update that can allow me to use Direct3D or something on WC3, or that can allow u to use a Windows Joystick on it???? please tell me where can i find them?

I don´t think that exists a WC3 Patch, got to the Files sector of the CIC, there is a small file with a new routine for a joystick, download it and try if solves your problem

Do you play the game in Windows ???? Try to run WC3 in DOS.

Ok, from the beginning... WC3 was made, what, '94? I doubt DirectX was even considered back then. Windows 3.11 was the hot new OS back then, and DOS was the king of the pond. (Those were the days!) WC3 uses VESA/UNIVBE (don't ask me now what they are, k?). The only way to get WC3 with notable Windows-support is by getting Kilrathi Saga, and I can only wish you luck with that... which means a digital/USB/Serial yoke is pretty much out of the question. Go for an ancient analog thing.

..mine works in windows.. well, worked.. i gotta clean the cd.

The original WC3 works in Windows, it just doesn't have the support of Windows drivers like I'm assuming KS does.

I believe UNIVBE stands for Universal Video Bios Extensions. VESA something similar.

Ok this is where I need help. Mine works in windows, yet the sound is stuffed, the graphics occupy the top third of the screen and it locks up the movies.

I want to run WC3 in MsDos mode for Win98. I'm not sure how mscdex works anymore (I used to know the in's and out's back in the good old days). I'm stumped! Someone please help me out with creating an autoexec.bat and config.sys that supports soundcard (vibra128), cd drive (diamond).

THE FATE OF HUMANITY RESTS WITH YOU

Perhaps you should take this to the Tech Support, but it's quite easy. Post your system files there, and they'll sort it out.

You'll need to find if you've got a MS-DOS CD driver for config.sys, MSCDEX is only used in autoexec.

As a note, it is plausible to run WC3 in windows... you don't need MSCDEX to be running, however. That's an application to activate the CD-ROM in pure DOS. It's unnecessary in Windows.

Hey, Saturnyne, is your name taken from Shakespaer's Titus Anderonicus?

I've got WC3 running now :D

Hmmmm I need to get a scratch remover for WCIV...my cd4 locks the game when one of the 'pirates' speak... :(

And I can't find someone nearby to let me burn a copy of cd4. Any suggestions?
