The Supply Depot escaped

Plywood Fiend

Rear Admiral
I thought i'd share this peculiar Wing commander happenstance story with you all.

I was recently playing through Secret Missions 1 and was on the supply depot strike mission. Paladin had exploded and five Gratha were giving me grief, so I started circling the depot, which often causes Kilrathi escorts to shoot it whilst trying to hit me, fly into it themselves, or blast themselves to pieces. (This, of course, is on the occasions when i'm lucky enough not to crash myself).

Anyhoo, I can only assume that on my last attempt the Gratha collisions propelled the Starpost away because the next thing I know it's vanishing into the distance at high speed. I couldn't even catch it with afterburners.

Most odd.

Whilst i'm here there's something else i've been meaning to ask. How does the debriefing dialogue read if Knight takes down the Sivar? I've never had such a thing happen before. (He rarely survives/sticks around long enough to get a crack at it).

Looking at the script it appears that that eventuality is not accounted for. There is only a "I destroyed it" and "I wish I had destroyed it" options to be played during the debriefing sequence.

Yeah, collisions in WC1 can sometimes do funny things like what you described. In particular, I'm reminded of the two Draymen of the Sleipnir convoy in SM1 - they travel so closely together that as they try to approach the nav point, the crash into each other and fly off at ridiculous speeds into the distance. Most frustrating, since you have to wait for them to reach the nav point before you can continue the mission.

Oh God, yes, that's so annoying in that mission. I alwasy autopilot back to them but it always takes me three to four attempts to get them to the nav point.
