Hi,
I played some time now (using SuSE 9.2 Linux, "slashdotted release") and noticed some things:
- annoying:
I wanted to switch ships by transporting the original Talon to my current location,
started a mission and noticed that all upgrades were gone..seems I will go back
to my save game and first sell everything before buying a second ship.
Also, all active missions are lost after switching/buying ships
- strange things with numbers:
* sometimes my "faction rating" shows floating point numbers:
instead of a green "100" I get something like "2.6-e........";
seems to become 100 again after restarting the game
* don't know if that is a bug, damage or "wear and tear" (if so, it wasn't repairable):
my cargo volume dropped from 150 to something like 130.47323..
* sadly, I don't remember the details, but one time I was able to get more than
three missions..had the same (new) mission three or four times listed under
"active missions". I'm quite sure it was some special mission a "police officer"
(Destinee?) gave to me in Tingerhoff..either checking out or transporting
weapons to New Caledonia. Maybe it got listed everytime I rejected the offer..
- other stuff:
* If you sell your upgrades, do you get paid in "naturals"?
After selling all upgrades and the original ship
(followed by buying&upgrading a new centurion)
I had some cargo I didn't buy
* I took a rescue mission for a merchant in Tingerloff:
I was supposed to drop the pilot off on a Drayman, M..something-squadron,
but wasn't able to find it; maybe it got destroyed by Kilrathis nearby.
So I searched some time and neighbouring systems for the Drayman without
success and finally decided to drop him somewhere in space.
-> The mission started over, I went back and rescued him another time and
finished the mission this time because I had to drop him off on some planet.
The first "rescued" pilot is still floating as "missionless" mission cargo in New
Detroit ;-)
* It is somewhat illogical to be time-consumingly scanned for contrabrand every
once in a while but if you take some of Teyla(?)'s smuggling missions to learn
about the artifact you jump into a system and are immediately greeted by
gunfire and "die you smuggling pirate scum"/"we scanned your cargo"
That was somewhat unexpected..
(ok, afterwards..taking the view of the one that had to program the missions..)
- questions/feature requests:
* Does "Destinee" return if I piss off the pirates?
I rejected some undercover mission because I first wanted to earn some credits
to buy a fighter. Now the pirates like me "by accident" (by working for
Sandoval/killing retros) and she is gone..probably because I am now a "pirate"
(meaning: except the retros, everybody likes me)?
* Is it worth trying to figure out how the nav computer (path editing etc) works
and what it is for? The manual wasn't that helpful here.
The SQL-like interface _looks_ like something one wants to have for a "select all
sectors with a mining base" or s.th. alike
* I really would like to have access to the map while visiting a base so it is easier
to pick some missions as a newbie ("sounds great, but where the f... lies that
system? Is it on my way or on the other end of the universe?").
Seems logical to me: if I buy a map, I am able to (and would like to) look on it
before starting a trip.
At the moment I have the sector map written down on a paper besides my screen..
* having an overview of bases in a system would be nice (i.e by doubleclicking on it
on the sector list where you can select it as a path target)
