Sound problem w/ OS X 10.3.7 and PR ver 1.0

First of all let me say a huge thank you to the developers of this game. I loved Privateer when it came out originally, and can now play it on my Mac.

Here's my problem:

I'm running a Macintosh G4 at 733 mHz, with 768 Mb Ram. I've downloaded, copied to my drive, configured and installed Privateer Remake Ver 1.0. The game boots fine, however, I have absolutely no sound effects other than music. The music plays great, and shifts for combat, for landing, as per normal. But no matter what I do, I can't hear my guns firing. Or hear speech.

Or any sound other than music. I've tried turning the music all the way down, tried turning the sound up, tried exiting and reconfiguring, and tried erasing and re-installing. No joy. I've tried disabling my firewall as well.

I've also done a search of the forums. I may be the only Mac user who can't get sound effects.

Cany anyone help me?

Thanks
M

Strange...it's always worked perfectly on a mac for me...

try using hitting the . key in flight to increase volume

try configuring to turn off music and just have sound--see if that helps

As for debian: you need to make sure your sound card either accepts multiple channels or else you are running some sort of sound daemon and have properly configured .openalrc as illustrated in several previous forum posts
