For Years I could not use it because mine is a DOS-Version.

I fiddled arround with X2 but that's not Privateer!

Thank you so much for bringing back one of my favorite games of all time! You guys did an amazing job!!! I can only say that I congratulate you for this brilliant idea and I appreciate the hard work you have put into this project very much! Keep up that spirit :)

Most of the hard work was done by me and the Vega Strike team before the remake was even conceived by Mamiya.
However then the innovation sort of reversed directions, and the requests to make the campaign possible in the engine forced the me and another Vega Strike developer, dandan to create a lanaguage to make campaigns easy to write (because they were so long).
This in turn allowed us to release vegastrike0.4.3 about 3 months ahead of schedule.
 
I think you underestimate how long ago I conceived of the remake :) There was simply a years long gap between the idea and the beginning of earnest work (though some things, like the centurion cockpit, were done around 2001). What you said remains fundamentally true of course :D

Vegastrike is really an advanced engine. To get a Privateer feeling, a lot of things were simplified. Making the AI dumb enough was a real challenge. It speaks volumes of Vegastrike that the features available in it are a superset of what we needed for Privateer.
