Question about the drone texture

Hi all,

Thanx for your time and effort to create this mod :)
However i am not very interested in the game itself, even though i will defenitly play it. My eyes are focues on the texture of the steltek drone, which is (next to the paradigm) one of my favourite ships.

This creation was inspired by the paradigm model (preview):

Now i want to ask if it's ok for you to create a high detailed model of the drone ,with some alterations/chages here and there, according to your drone texture?
(Whoever made this texture, i am in love with you :D )

It is, and me too :) I assumed he was talking about making a highly greebled model like his Third Wave cruiser class spaceship instead of a game model.

Wouldn't that be...oh I don't know...pointless? The drone is a smooth ovoid with a few smaller ovoids(also smooth). Or thats how it looked back in privateer. Maybe 3d smooth ovoids need to be all covered in junk to be hip?
 
The graphics in the original were somewhat limited in the amount of detail they could display. He based his comments on the texture, which shows a lot of subtle details you couldn't see in the original game. Not all greebles are right angles, the shape I imagine will remain an ovoid. He feels there is something to be done there, I welcome his efforts.
 
actually....that's where you're wrong mamiya. the model files are actually very nicely detailed. since everything was sprite, poly counts didnt matter, and it shows. the reason why there aren't a whole lot of raised surfaces or whatever on the drone, is because it was supposed to be super smooth, and super polished. maybe model the panel lines, very lightly set. that'd be about the extent of 'detailing' for the drone.

I'm aware of that. My point was that the original game was unable to display all the detail. 320x200 will do that to you. Why would I have mentioned the details visible in the texture if I didn't think there were details?

Well, what i had in mind was using the textures for the basic concept and then alter it a little bit, that it fits to the overall lookings of my race.

I already thought about what i will change :)
However everything will be based on the textures of Privateer Remake.
